The Council of the Baltic Sea States

The Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) is an overall political forum for regional intergovernmental cooperation. The members of the Council are the 11 states of the Baltic Sea region as well as the European Commission.

The Working Group for Cooperation on Children at Risk, the WGCC and the Children’s Unit at the CBSS secretariat works to increase expertise and awareness on how to protect children, prevent abuse as well as on how to support and rehabilitate victims.

The WGCC and the Children’s Unit provides a platform for collaboration between experts and practitioners all across the region. An extensive network of professionals is maintained by the Children’s Unit through organising expert meetings, seminars and through the use of the interactive part of the website, http://www.childcentre.org/.

The network tied to the WGCC work will provide a useful base for creating contacts between the project and professionals in the Baltic Sea region. The Children’s Unit will provide a platform for the dissemination of findings, manuals and for providing access to colleagues.
